Subscription Terms
Last updated 23 October 2026
Matlaro is free to use on iPhone and on Android. A subscription removes the monthly limit on how many recipes you can save from a link or a photograph, and on iPhone it unlocks household sharing. These are the terms of that subscription.
What is free
Keeping recipes, organising them into cookbooks, writing your own, cooking with step-by-step mode, the shopping list and browsing the catalogue are free and stay free.
A limited number of imports each month is included at no cost. An import is a recipe read from a link, a photograph or pasted text. A recipe you type in yourself never counts against it.
What a subscription adds
Unlimited imports every month.
As many cookbooks as you want to keep.
Reading a cookbook page from a photograph.
On iPhone, sharing a cookbook and a plan with your household. The Android app does not include household sharing.
Price and billing
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy, and that price is the one that applies.
On iPhone, payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless automatic renewal is switched off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
On Android, payment is charged to the payment method in your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and is charged at renewal, unless you cancel it before the period ends.
Free trial
Where a free trial is offered, it is shown in the app with its length before you start it.
If you do not want to be charged, cancel before the trial ends: on iPhone at least 24 hours before it ends, on Android before it ends.
On iPhone, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Managing and cancelling
On iPhone, you can manage your subscription and switch off automatic renewal in your Apple Account settings at any time after purchase.
On Android, you can manage or cancel your subscription in the Google Play app under Payments and subscriptions, or with Change or cancel in Google Play on Matlaro's profile screen. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Matlaro cannot cancel it for you - Apple or Google controls the subscription.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the current period, and the subscription keeps working until that period ends.
Refunds
On iPhone, purchases are made from Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's policy. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
On Android, purchases are made through Google Play, so refunds are handled by Google and are subject to Google Play's refund policy. Request one from your order history in your Google Play account.
This does not affect any rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
What happens if you stop subscribing
Every recipe already in your cookbook stays yours and stays on your phone, with or without a subscription. You keep access to it, and you can keep cooking it.
The monthly import limit comes back, and on iPhone household sharing stops.
Changes to the service
If we change what a subscription includes in a way that reduces it, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, so you can cancel before the next renewal.
